Repairs and small improvements (such as changing a tap, adding easily removable equipment or repainting) and heavy work (such as knocking a partition down or changing the layout of a bathroom) cannot be organized without the landlord’s prior agreement.

👍🏼 Landlords generally agree that you make improvements that help freshen up the place (replace the carpeting, repainting…), as long as you don’t completely change the atmosphere of the place. Only one way to make sure: contact him to outline your project. Explain what it is you would like to change, and send him pictures of what you imagine (paint color, carpet style…).
